The particularly sustainable Gesture was developed on the basis of the worldwide "Global Posture Study", in which Steelcase researchers identified 9 different sitting positions that determine our everyday office life today. Gesture is the first chair that specifically supports fluid and changing movements and also takes into account the operation of smartphone, tablet and notebook. The excellent Gesture synchronous mechanism and seat depth adjustment are included as standard, this mechanism enables synchronized movement of the seat to the backrest (ratio 1:2.6) and gives the seated person the option of a far-reclined relaxing posture in the fourth detent position of the synchronous mechanism (reclining-chair effect). The mechanism can be released over 4 latching positions as required. In the first detent position, the seat and backrest are locked in the forwardmost working position, with the backrest still being slightly movable via the core equalizer. The backrest can be released further back via the second and third detent positions. In the fourth detent position, the backrest is free to move backwards up to an opening angle of 135 degrees and the synchronous mechanism can unfold the effect of full freedom of movement. The seat cushion, which some users find somewhat "soft", is designed like the entire chair for a load capacity of up to 150kg and for use in several sitting positions. The resulting seating impression has been deliberately designed by Steelcase to be comfortable, soft and snug, this upholstery construction allows for all 9 sitting positions shown in the graphic such as sideways sitting "The Smart Lean" and others. Seat Height Note: The seat height of the chairs is measured by Steelcase at the factory according to EN1335-1. These dimensions may differ from "self-measured" dimensions, as in practice it is not so easy to determine the height without a suitable measuring device. The seat shows a slight lateral movement in all height settings.

Automatic lumbar support - Core Equalizer
The automatic lumbar support called Core Equalizer (preventive against herniated discs in the lumbar spine) is always included in the basic equipment and when you sit in it, your back feels like "this chair is made for me".
